Film Noir

World's fashion designers are have been presenting their fall/winter 2012/2013 collections and trends and so did the Tallinn Dolls in the Katsuekino on the top of the Viru Keskus (Viru shopping-center) and a second time at the Club Theater in Tallinn. This time the main designer was Mari Martin who focuses on black with colourful accents. Piret as one of the main models was seen on the catwalk too and her fashionable bandmate Katrin Siska was among the audience.

We informed you that Piret is now mainly working at the Estonian television ETV moreover in the show 'Pealtnägija' [Engl.: Eye-witness]. She will also be seen in this year's show as there was also made a jingle with Piret.

'27'

 

Last summer Piret had her own show '2011' which was about Tallinn as European Captial of Culture. This summer she has a show with Indrek Treufeldt which is called '27' because during mid-summer 2012 she and Treufeldt travelled through 27 European countries and discovered their cultures. Now this documentary will be transmitted and the experienced they made shown to Estonia on ETV. In the first show they will talk about their closest neighbours Finland and Latvia.

News-update Lenna #2

Lenna at Psühholoogia Sinule

"I'm sick of feeling guilty!", Lenna says on the cover of the magazine Psühholoogia Sinule [Engl.: Psychology for you], where she really opened her soul to the public. She tells that she has lost her inner peace currently and has become almost paranoid.

The main topic of her interview shows that she has thought a lot lately. It was concerning children and a family. Some happenings of this year (e.g. the vocal cords surgey right after the Eesti Laul 2012) were decisive for this and opened her eyes.
"I think it is nice when people have children and assume the families. [...] I would be delighted if it happened to me one day.", Lenna tells.
Personally, she thinks that it wouldn't be a problem to have children and care for the own career.

Her former mates Keit Triisa (backgroundsinger in 2010) and Maarja Kivi (alias Marya Roxx) might be two good examples for her.

Lenna will play in Aku Louhimies' new Film

As the film "Vuosaari" [Engl.: Naked Harbour] was very successful in its producing country Finland, the producer Aku Louhimies has now finished the script on another movie. "Elävvien Kirjoihin" [Engl.: Living Books] will be released in winter in January 2013.
Lenna once told in an interview that she was chosen for Viivi in "Vuosaari" because the producer liked what she does, so it's no wonder that he chose her for this movie again. She will play the role of a woman who is named Anna.

"You can sort this movie into a love story", Louhimies tells to the Estonian magazine Postimehe. The producing places were Helsinki and Kuopios in Finland and Lissabon in Portugal. It was inspired by Marko Kilpi's detective novel.

Expressions Fall 2012

After rabbits in spring and cats in summer the Expressions-model Lenna is now posing with a baby-snow leopard (then 3 months old, born April 23rd). The shooting didn't take place in studios this time but at the zoo of Tallinn, so visitors were able to watch the work on place.
The Expressions winter-collection is presenting jewellary á la fashion-icon Chanel. Check out a little making-of video and interview Lenna gave here.

'Vuosaari' Premiere

At the beginning of August the film premiere of 'Vuosaari' [Engl.: Naked Harbour] took place in Estonia at the  Kino Sõprus, in the Solaris Keskus and at the filmfestival of Tartu - tARTuFF. Lenna who played one of the main characters was on place, too and gave an interview for the Estonia radio Elmar where she talks about her role, how she got it and of course about her experiences and impressions.Listen to the interview here.

News-update Katrin

Cooperation with Jana Kask:

Since May 2012 the Estonian musician Jana Kask, you might remember from the Eesti Laul 2011 ["I Don't wan't anything"], has had a new stylist manager: Katrin Siska.
Today it was official that the cooperation between the two has ended. Katrin shortly explained the end of the cooperation in the following way: "Sadly I turned out to be Jana Kask's fifth manager. Our cooperation was difficult and ended in the same way as the cooperation with her former manager. Perhaps a horrible end is better than a never-ending nightmare!"

At first Katrin was very happy about this cooperation and saw lots of good chances and possibilities for Jana. She loved the work with her and she as person. Even more sad is such an end now.

Having asked Jana herself about this she answered us: "She wasn't my stylist and has never been. :) All, what I have done until now, I have done by myself. She has simply helped me with the project Miss Jillion in technical questions."

Jana Kask, presents herself with the new name Miss Jillion, her debut-single "Miljon" [Engl.: Million] was written by Katrin and her.

Graduation!:

In mid-july of this year, Katrin Siska, has finally graduated her law-studies at the Technical University of Tallinn (TTÜ). She wrote her dissertation about: "Personality of public life within the conflict between data privacy protection and freedom of the press"

Lenna & Ott

Lenna and Ott are back together on stage since 2010. Now they will perform at the 'Valgete Ööde Festival' [Engl.: White Nights Festival] which will take place from June 15 til June 16, 2012.

The duet will perform their song for the film 'Üksik Saar' [Engl.: Lonely Island] on June 15th 21.00 pm [GTM+2] after that the film will be shown on 23.00 pm

NEW Song

Back to School

Lately Katrin Siska who is now the head of the biggest culture centre of Tallinn, the Lindakivi Culture Center, talked to the Estonian fashion magazine Buduaar [Engl.: Boudoir] and remembered her schooldays.

From her official biography we know that Katrin was Piret's classmate and a very, very good student. "At school I liked music, arts, maths and languages - Estonian, Russian, English and German language.", says Katrin who speaks also French and learns Spanish.

As a good student Katrin liked almost everything at school the only thing which annoyed her was IT because of her teacher. She remembers: "I didn't like IT, because of teacher. IT teacher was an old sweaty man, who smoked and didn't hear properly. Every time someone asked something he came really close to explain it. That's why noone didn't want to aske anything."
This is understandable for Katrin who generally doen't and doesn't like to smoke.

Galapagai 2012

Today the Vanilla Ninja fans have been informed about a Lithuanian festival named 'Galapagai' which will as well take place this year again.

VN-LT-Fan from the Vanillaninja.eu crew among others has already tried to get Vanilla Ninja to the perform at this festival, too. So far there has neither anything been confirmed nor denied but he is not only asking the VN-management for help but also you!

How can you help? - It's easy, if you're registered on Facebook, go and like Galapagai's page and write on their timeline 'We want Vanilla Ninja in festival Galapagai/Rock Nights' of course you can add anything else you want with it.

Lenna at 'Jüri Üdi Klubi'

On Monday April 30 Lenna was a guest in the Estonian Jüri Üdi Klubi [Engl.: St. George Medulla Club] which was released on ETV and ETV2. It was the first time she appeared in a TV show since the Eesti Laul and her voice problems.

Belated news: Piret at the 'Computer Games Night'

On Saturday April 7th, 2012 the singer Piret Järvis hosted the 'Computer Games Night: R U There', which took place at the 'Sõprus'-cinema. 

"Looking at a bloody game like 'Mortal Kombat' is one, I was a school girl indeed not having the possibility to play it. It's alright that games are bloody and brutal just as the regulary action-films and I think, there should be age limits for underage ones.", Piret said to the Estonian newspaper Õhtuleht.

Computer-fans of among others 'Mortal Kombat' were able to play agains each other on big movie-screens of the Sõprus movie theatre.
During that night Piret remembered her childhood: "As a child there was still played a lot. 'Prince of Persia' I had a compter, the computer was black-green and also black-white still. 'Supalex', 'Minesweeper' and 'Super Mario' were games I also played.", she tells. Today th situation as changed for Piret: "Currently I'm not such a big computer- and video game player. I'm absolutely not familar with the games nowadays."

And what does Piret generally think of computer games? "Maybe it is a good way to escape from the reality and somehow calm your mind for a moment but I think that you need an entertaining feature, too", she answered.
From her childhood she remembered that she always argued with her elder sister Mari and her younger brither Peeter who may play the computer and that her parents always had to tell that that it's bed-time.

From the 'Computer Games Night' we got to know about Piret that she doen't like brutal, bloody games but prefers nice games like 'Super Mario' or 'Prince of Persia'.

Vanilla Ninja Management Comments on VN Performances

VANILLA NINJA CONCERT IN SUMMER!!!

At the beginning of the new year we had to inform you about the sad message that the concert the VN girls Piret, Katrin and Lenna planned, to celebrate their 10 year anniversary in summer, got cancelled. This made the band lose more fans again and more fans doubt about a VN-reunion.

Since today we have more hope than some VN-sources have tried to give you already. Vanilla Ninja will perform this summer! This is not an April-joke! Estonia's neighbour-country to the south, Latvia, has a new music and culture festival called 'Pestival', where many European artists will perform and so will the legendary Estonian girl-rock band from Estonia on July 28th, 2012 from 3.00 p.m. to 5.00p.m. [GTM+2] on the Mezaparks Great Stage in the Latvian capital Riga.

The ticket-shop has been opened since today. If you are quickly and belong to the ones to buy one of the first 3.000 tickets you only have to pay 18.00 Ls [25, 74 €], normal tickets cost 25 Ls [35, 75 €] and VIP tickets which are limited cost 50 Ls [71, 50 €].

Time to concentrate VN-fans!!! :)

Piret not on Today's Terevisioon

As we informed you Piret Järvis will be the host of the Estonian ETV morning show 'Terevisioon' [Engl.: Hellovision] for a certain time. Even though "(in) fact, I didn't go to the studios this morning. This programme was recorded in parts, because right this morning I came to travel abroad", says Piret.

Piret says that of course this was an excepting from the regularity. The following shows are already planned.
The singer and host hasn't been able to judge about the results of the recordings. "I haven't watched filming yet, it is difficult to imagine by speaking. But it is something I want to do in any case. By Urmas Vaino's side it has still been good and safe", Piret explains to the web-designer of the Estonian newspaper Õhtuleht.

In these following three days Piret even has to wake up before 05.00 am [GTM+2]. "But it's great that meanwhile I've got the routine.", Piret says.

The real hosts of 'Terevisioon' Katrin Viirpalu and Peeter Oja got replaced by Urmas Vaino and Piret Järvis because of the vacation they are having currently.

Lenna's car sold!

As we informed you Lenna's former car the Renault Mégane Coupé was auctionned on Thursday March 29th, 2012 from 10.00 pm [GTM+2] on the City Motors Facebook page. Many people attended as spactators and participants.

After five hours the new owner of Lenna's car was announced. It's the 24-year-old advertising project manager Helena Ruudi who bought the one-year-old car, which has been driven "only 20 000km", as Lenna says,  for 11 600 Euros (the original prize was 18 000 Euros). Apart from that she has won concert tickets for Lenna's summer performances and a signed CD.
"I've attended to the auction spontaneously. I went into the internet in the morning and saw a big announcement in a news-portal thinking this is an event. Apart from that I had some time so I decided to try it", Helena says.

Us from Club VN wish Helena all the best with the car. May she drive wonderful and happy roads with it. :)

Happy Birthday, Triin-Ketlin!

As it is said "better later than never" and so we want to congratulate Katrin's little sister Triin-Ketlin who became 22 years old on Tuesday March 27th and wish her all the best!

Piret and Kalle in a Relationship Again?

At the beginning of the new year we had to informed you that Piret Järvis and her fiancé drummer Kallervo Karu take a break from their relationship. Now it seems that they are together again.

We remind you that everything got clarified in January when Kallervo changed is relationship status on his Facebook page from "in a relationship with" to "single". The two of them explained that they need to refresh their relationship with this break. Even though they kept their tattoos which is supposed to be the sign of their engagement. Apart from that the couple still has plans to marry in the future.
Even in August, when Piret firstly began to spend lots of time with the Shelton San singer Valter Nõmm, there were rumors that Piret would have had a relationship with him, as the Estonian newspaper Õhtuleht wrote. Piret annulled these rumors and explained that it's only a business coorporation between the two of them.

The Estonian magazine Kroonika writes that Piret and Kallervo were seen at a beautiful dinner in the restaurant Põhja-Tallinna Rimis.
Now Piret additionally says that during this period her fiancé and her didn't have any arguments and that it looks like they are in a relationship again. "We get along greatly with each other!", she says.

Piret Hosts Terevisioon

The Vanilla Ninja girl Piret Järvis is perfectly familar with the hosting job and the ETV studios so she was chosen to replace Katrin Viirpalu during her vacation period on the ETV morning-show 'Terevisioon' [Engl.: Hellovision]. She will be seen on the week of April 2nd together with the co-host Urmas Vaino.

Lenna's Car in Auction:

On Monday, March 26th it was published that Lenna's car the Renault Mégane Coupé will be auctionned tomorrow on March 29th at the City Motors (Staadioni 1, 10132 Tallinn, Estonia) on 14.00 pm [GTM+2] for a opening-prize of 1 €. The reason is that the City Motors will give Lenna a bigger car. The administrator Airi Rätsep explains: "Lenna Kuurmaa is an excellent singer who brought us a successful development we want to make contribution."

Lenna is happy about this and says: "I'm truely grateful to the City Motors, that they lend me a hand according to the car. I hope that our cooperation will be great and successful."

Support for the Teachers

On Thursday, March 8th 2012 (World Women's Day) the city council of Tallinn organized a rally in order to support the teachers, where quite a lot of people attended to. Among others there were Erich "Women are crazy" Krieger, Peeter "Brush reporter" Võsa, Priit "printing as long as I can" Toobal and Katrin "Umbrella stand" Siska. These expression were given as nicknames to them.

The aid-mayor Mihhail Kõlvart and the chairman of the Central Party Kalle Klandorf had been on place as well. The photos were taken by the star-photographer and former host of Star-Tallinn TV Meelis Tomson.


The meeting was introduced by the Estonian hymn, which was introduced by the women's favourite Erich Krieger. After the change of the atomasphere into a relaxed one the best pieces of human repertoire could be heard.


It is said that about 350 people attended to the rally, even those who don't work in the city council.

BELATED NEWS: Lenna the 2nd

On Saturday March 3rd Estonia chose its contesting song and accompaning artist for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 which will take place in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku.

Ott Lepland whom we got to know from Lenna's 2010 tour 'Pühad on Saabunud Linna' [Engl.: The Saint one has returned to the town] and his song 'Kuula' [Engl.: Listen] could make it against nine others.
Lenna was the 2nd again, this time with her song 'Mina Jään' [Engl.: I stay]. She and Ott have been the two favourite contestants so we informed you and both made it to the two best places.

Congratulations! Hopefully he will not disappoint us!

Lenna talks about her Outfit

Last week Lenna attented to the yearly presdential-reception again. Just like the last year she wore a dress by the Estonian designer Pille Küngas. She chose a audacious combination of a cold-coloured dress and orange shoes and explains to the women's magazine Naisteleht why.

'The shoes were my own courageous decision, you can say. I talked to Pille about it and she wasn't sure if this would be a loss at such an important event.', Lenna Kuurmaa says.

She goes on telling that this audacious idea came suddenly. 'But this dress itself was so romantic, airy, bright, pure and light so I wanted the 'break-in' there to set something completly different to impress. I still wanted the colour in there.'

'It is also logical saying that the shoes were really bright, but I put in pastell orange and I also painted my fingernails in the same coulour.'

Lenna talks about Finland

'I like Finland and Finnish people a lot', says Lenna Kuurmaa to the Estonian fashion magazine Mood [Engl.: Fashion] who has spent a lots of time there during the last year mainly because of her new film 'Vuosaari' [Engl.: Naked Harbour] by Aku Louhimies. Which arrived belated to the Estonian cinema-screens.

Louhimies, about who there was a false rumour that Lenna and he would have a relationship, is also the director of her 'Eesti Laul' contesting song 'Mina Jään' [Engl.: I Stay].
'Many people wonder, how Louhimies came as director of my video, but it's another confirm, that if you believe in the goodness of people around you and these people believe in you then you can also do things without big money and budget. Not that people around you should work for free, but good deeds find their way in a circle. Always.', says Lenna about her cooperation with Louhimies.

Eesti Laul 2012

We informed you about the first Eesti Laul semifinal which took place last week.

Yesterday the 2nd semifinal was transmitted on ETV on 21.35 [GTM+2]. Lenna was the 2nd one who performed her song 'Mina Jään' [Engl.: I stay]. When she was interviewed by Piret she said that she is full of engergy.
It was hoped and expected that the host Piret Järvis would have worn another beautiful twelve dresses but she wore one of the dresses from the first semifinal. She explained on Facebook and Ringvaade that she liked that one very much.

Triinu's Answers to the Questions

Not long ago we informed you about a fan-interview with the ex-VN bassist Triinu Kivilaan arranged by the Estonian VN Portaal. Today Triinu's answers have been published.

How often do you visit Estonia? Has your boyfriend Sandro been there too? (What kind of work does he?)
I don't visit Estonia often. Regulary once in a year. Last Sunday (Febuary 19th) we came back from Estonia. Sandro has been there for the first time. He works in the informatical science field he's an IT-specialist.

You currently live in Switzerland, what kind of job do you have?
Me, myself I do work in a shoe-boutique.

Do you plan to work in the field somehow again?
I'm still fully connected with the music.. I don't believe that the will, effort and time is enough to make something.

How many years have you lived in Switzerland and why did you decide to move there?
Now I have lived here for five years. Some things are still different which I like. The people here are always very are open, very obliging. As well the countryside is very good, after all it's a mountainious area. It is also a very good place to find a destination here.

Do you feel like you fully belong to Switzerland, where Vanilla Ninja has been popular for the Eurovision?
All alone I'm more unknown. Maybe rarely people come to their minds and recognize that I've ever sang. But I'm thankful to Vanilla Ninja. Most of the people here know VN.

What do you think of some fan-sites still supporting and writing about you? How much are you still interested in these fan-sites?
Oih... Here I really don't know what to answer because try not to visit these sites because I want to leave my story of life behind me.

How is your sister doing Kerli and how about the little Markus?
Kerli is soon going to graduate school and she is going to go on learning in Tartu (she wants to study law if I'm not informed wrongly). Well Markus is only a little sweetie and goes to school. Currently he's still in the kindergarden. Both are doing well!:)

Which are your favourite song from your soloalbum and which VN songs did you ever like?
I don't want to list them. There have been many favourites... but I don't believe that I will listen to them very often again.

Which music are you listening to? Who are your favourite artists? Name some of songs which you like at the moment!
I listen to the following songs:

I didn't meet any of the VN girls. I neither have their telephone number nor any kind of contact. None of us feels to miss somebody. It's better like this:)

Eesti Laul 2012

As we informed you Piret hosts the Eesti Laul semifinals this year again this time with Mait Malmsteni. Yesterday you were able to watch the first semifinal on ETV if you have Estonian TV or on the internet on ETV's live-stream on 21.35 pm [GTM+2]. The repetition of the show was shown today at the same place on 13.30 pm [GTM+2].

We could see that Piret didn't disappoint us and once again has done a great job as host. Apart from that she has worn twelve beautiful and extravagant dresses during the show just as we expected. You can watch the photos on Ninjadiary's gallery.

Piret Hosts the Eesti Laul Semifinals

Having hosted the semifinals and final of the 'Eesti Laul 2011' together with her band-mate Lenna Kuurmaa, Piret Järvis showed that she did a great job so that she will be the host of this year's 'Eesti Laul' semifinals.

Piret realized that she prefers peace of mind and that she is rather interested in leading the competition. "It is much more comfortable next to the racetrack and to let others compete with this year's semifinalists under the spotlight and the stage. Me, I was asked a following time to administer the show, that was such a big compliment for me that I didn't have to be asked twice.", she says.

"I'm among the participants of the "Eesti Laul" every year, I always see new artists or find and recognize old ones.", adds the host, who thinks that the 'Eesti Laul' is in a good position in the local music scene.


Last year Piret wore extravagant dresses as remember. This year she will be dressed by the fashion-artists Britt Samoson so we may expect new beautiful eye-catching dresses.

This year Piret will host the semi-finals together with the musician Mait Malmsteni.

Another good reason not to miss the 'Eesti Laul 2012' which will be on Febuary 18th, Febuary 25th and March 3rd in the Nokia concerthall on 21.35 pm [GTM+2]!

EMA 2012

On Febuary 2nd the Estonian Music Awards one of the most important music events in Estonia took part in the Nokia Concerthall in the capital Tallinn. After having got four awards last year Lenna Kuurmaa hosted the event this year together with her partner Mihkel Raud.



We informed you that Lenna got styled by the Tallinn Dolls designer Karolin Kuusik see the result of the prepartions and photos from the gala in our partnersite Ninjadiary's gallery and as promised the whole event on TV3 if you missed it or want to see it again.

Apart from that you can watch something else, Lenna had little projection from her comrades-in-arms: she had perform her Eesti Laul song 'Mina Jään' on the stage of the Nokia Concerthall before the beginning of the contest.

Video 'Naked Harbour'

We've lately informed you that the Vanilla Ninja girl, Lenna Kuurmaa as well takes part in the soundtracks of her new film 'Vuosaari' [Engl.: Naked Harbour]. She sings one of the 'Vuosaari'-soundtracks. The name of the song is 'Naked Harbour' like the movie itsself and sang in English.

Piret Järvis celebrates her 28th birthday today as we all know and share the happiness of her special day. We wish her all and only the best from this world. May all her dreams and wishes become true and her smile never miss from her face and the shine in her eyes always be there.

Last week we told you about a poll on the Estonian Radio Sky Plus site, "Who has the more beautiful face: Laura or Piret?".

We're happy to inform you this week that Piret Järvis has won the poll with a mijority of 51% (1948 votes).

We and surely Piret are happy about everyone who voted for her! :)

It has been prooved that Piret is and keeps being the beauty.

Eesti Laul Favourites:

Last week the Estonian source Delfi asked its readers who of the 20 Eesti Laul contestants is their favourite one. The Vanilla Ninja girl Lenna Kuurmaa and her song 'Mina Jään' [Engl.: I stay] is chosen as number from the whole but number one as female contestant. The Estonian musician Ott Lepland is the number one. Lenna and Ott are followed by Birgit Õigemeel Feat. Violina, Pop Maniacs and Liis Lemsalu.

The two semifinals are on Febuary 18 and Febuary 25 to see on ETV. Lenna will perform on the 2nd semifinal.

Jussi Gala:








On Sunday January 29, 2012 Lenna attented to the Jussi Gala in the Finnish capital Helsinki where her new film Vuosaari [Engl.: Naked Harbour] was presented.
Lenna herself performed a song in English which is one of the Vuosaari soundtracks.

EMA's 2012:

As we informed you Lenna and her partner Mihkel Raud will moderate the EMA's 2012 tomorrow on Febuary 2, 2012.
For such an important event Lenna gets styled by one of Estonia's best designers Karolin Kuusik from Tallinn Dolls in Riina Põldroos' fashion atelier. There are many dresses but from the EMA's Lenna gets only three to choose between.
